Update and translation (birth certificate, marriage, divorce, death)

  • Translation of all civil status documents (birth, recognition, marriage, divorce, death) from Malagasy into French and vice versa.
  • Updating of all Malagasy civil status documents (birth, recognition, marriage, divorce, death) whose date is outdated, old. The document issued by the municipality (in Malagasy or in French) having received the visa from the general and consular affairs department of the Malagasy MAE.

Translation time 2 weeks

Documents required:

  • Consular card
  • The original copy to be translated or updated
  • Express prepaid envelope

Adoption

The Embassy receives adoption applications and forwards them to the competent authorities in Madagascar.

Wedding at the Embassy

Diplomatic and consular authorities can only solemnize marriages between two Malagasy nationals, under penalty of absolute nullity of the marriage;
According to law n°2007-022 of August 20, 2007 relating to marriage and matrimonial regimes, article 2, “marriage between two persons of the same sex is prohibited, whether celebrated before the civil registrar or performed according to traditional ceremonies”.

The marriage age is set at 18.

Documents required:

  • Malagasy passports + photocopy
  • 02 forms of information to be completed correctly to be dated and signed by each of the future spouses
  • 02 information sheets on the witnesses, including their signatures (national identity card or passport in support) and their age (21 years old)
  • 01 full copy of birth certificate (less than 03 months of validity on the date of the ceremony, issued by the Town Hall of the place of birth)
  • 01 certificate of celibacy issued by the Town Hall of the place of birth of (less than 03 months of validity)
  • Photocopy of the Consular Identity Card of the future spouses
  • Concerning the military situation of the future spouses or their situation vis-à-vis the National Service, mention on the forms the references of the supporting documents.
  • In the case of a non-census, 5 resident abroad forms must be completed and signed, then stamped by the Consular Service.
  • If a marriage contract (matrimonial regime) is envisaged, it must be done before a notary before the marriage and a copy must be attached to the file.
  • Case of future minor spouse (-18 years old): An order from the Court of First Instance in Madagascar is required

FILE DEPOSIT:

  • At least 4 weeks before the ceremony (dates and times fixed) CEREMONY
  • Provide 2 substitute witnesses
  • Arrive half an hour before the start time and present the witnesses as well as the identity documents If necessary, mention the children to be legitimized

TRANSCRIPTION

Birth

Children whose two parents are Malagasy or whose only father is Malagasy or whose only mother is Malagasy and unmarried

Documents required :

- A request for transcription on plain paper, addressed to the Chargé d'Affaires with the exact address of the parents.
- A complete and original copy (no photocopy) of the child's birth certificate.
- A photocopy of the Malagasy passport or the national identity card of the father if the couple is married or of the mother if the couple is not married.
- A stamped envelope if the applicant cannot come or send someone to collect the transcript.

Documents required :


- A request for transcription on plain paper, addressed to the Chargé d'Affaires with the exact address of the applicant.
- Original and complete death certificate.
- A photocopy of the identity document of the deceased.
- A stamped envelope if the applicant cannot come or send someone to collect the transcript

Marriage

Documents required :

- A request for transcription on plain paper, addressed to the Chargé d'Affaires with the exact address of the applicant as well as the telephone number.
- Integral and original marriage certificate.
- A photocopy of the identity document of the spouses.
- A stamped envelope if the applicant cannot come or send someone to collect the transcript ...
